D & D play time!!

New postby Jeff » Fri Apr 04, 2008 7:49 pm

A courtly messenger has arrived via coach at your door bearing a sealed envelope.
His is wearing a green tabard with a bright yellow sunflower emblazoned on it. The envelope he hands you is sealed with enchanted way bearing a blooming sunflower on it. He advises you that he is required to wait upon your reply and has a scribe waiting in the coach if you so require.
The invitation reads thus:

His Glorious Eminence the High Priest Elthoian Myanial of Corellon Laethian requests your presence at a Dinner this evening to be held on the Grounds of the Sunflower Manse located in the North Ward on the Street of Piping Pipers at one hour after Moonrise.
Formal dress is required and a carriage will be arriving at this address one hour before Sunset.
Per his Eminence request, any weapon you insist on bringing MUST be surrendered to the Knight of Aster who will be your escort to and from the dinner.
Only Guests who arrive and depart in this manner will be allowed entrance and attendance in his Eminence’s presence.
Your immediate reply is required.

##DM’s note: What do you do? As a reminder, “Formal Dressâ€

Both Teak and Ed will RSVP affirmatively with as much syrupy eloquent appreciation as they can muster.

Both will visit their favored finest raiments shoppes in Waterdeep. Nothing overly outstanding color-wise but with some embroidered finery perhaps with gold threaded ribbing on subtle burgundy silks for Ed. Teak preferring more of a simple hunter green chemise, black pantaloons, but accessorizing handsomely.

And, of course, befitting of the season.

Pascal will RSVP afirmative. He certainly has formal robes, probably embroidered with symbols of Lathander for various ceremonies or services he either attends or gives.

Erg will, upon discussing it with a few of the other party members, also RSVP that he will go. He'll polish his armor (poorly, I'm sure), buy a new cloak, and an ill-fitting hat.

For Keta:

You indicated that you were going to jump the timeline. Keta and Ed
were expected back in Silverymoon/Everland after like a year to get
some reward from the ruler of Silverymoon for keeping the true tale
of Ed's gloves private. Keta was going to use this and cash from
selling another spellbook copy to fund his Temple/School in or near
Everlund.

Depending on how far you advance us, Keta may be unavailable.
Maybe the DM should roll on it and let me know the result. If Keta
is in town, he would be willing to go. As the head of his Temple/
School, Keta has rather ornate official robes that would pass muster
as "formal". He would have two assistant/followers (should be like
2 +1d4 level Fighter/Clerics of Azuth of the Evocation school). They
could wait with the Knight or remain at their lodgings.

BTW Drogo, the new wife, and his little rogues guild can be found at
the lavish new Inn that opens next to Keta's Temple/School
You all can stay anytime. Even at a discount rate

For Kitten (aka Lady Haven of House Moonstar)

She was born into one of the Noble Houses of Waterdeep, so the
"formal" cloths are not a problem. However, they were constructed
off world, so they are rather exotic...people think she is a little odd
anyway.

A multi-layered dress (almost floor length) of an exotic fabric made
to look like silver leaves in the moonlight (colors black to a shinny
platinum). Her standard exotic black leather belt. A large hooded
cloak constructed from exotic fabrics, leather and fur. It features
numerous Eladrin runes, glyphs and script. The outer side is sort of
metalic emerald green with shifting shades. The inner surface is a
deep black almost like the night.

She also has a heavy gold pendant of Selune. Something like six
gold/gem rings. She also breaks out a tiara also crafted by the
Eladrin. Its made of gold/platinum/ruby/emerald with many small
diamonds.

Under the dress she has comfy grey silk undergarments and her
standard black boots.

[FYI the formal cloths an Tiara are non magical. Her normal belt,
shoes and one ring are magical, but not weapons]

A little mouse and makeup and she is good to go

She has an ornate carriage fitting a mid-level noble decked out in
the colors/heraldry of House Moonstar, which includes barding for
the 4 heavy well trained war horses pulling it. Two of her followers
would be dressed in the manner of House Moonstar servents. They
would serve as Driver and attendent (like who opens doors).

Driver:Kil’ri Nightstar Female Elven Fighter/Mage/Rogue 3/3/3
Atten: Drinzil Nightstar Male Elven Fighter/Mage/Rogue 3/3/3
Each with Silenced Elven Chain +1, Elven longsword +1

They can wait or wander off and return to pick her up depending on
how hinky she thinks this guys (DM's option)

RE: Keta and Ed

B & B, you guys fight over who is first. Keta and Ed have completed
their year by the end of the dragon adventure. This summons is about a ride and a half after that. You both could have gone to
Silverymoon, the Capitol of the Silver Marches and gotten your
reward. Ed, I assume would return to Waterdeep relatively
quickly since that is his home, but Keta could easily stay there.
He would not be in Waterdeep at the time of the summons if he
does stay there, as always your choice's gentlemen.

RE: Changing year.
It has been confusing to me to keep you guys playing twelve years
back in Toril's history. Especially since I keep up to date on the
Realms products, so I'm just going to jump us ahead 12 years
without aging you guys and say that 1372 DR is current year.
Not 1360 DR.

In 1358 The powers walked the realms, Mystra was killed and
Midnight took her place as goddess of magic, Bane, Myrkul &
Bhaal were destroyed, Cyric took their place. Dead magic and
wild magic ares were created.

1359 Tuigen horde sweeps into Kara Tur and The Red Wizard
lich Szass Tam negotiates to let the horde thru Thay so long as
they attack Rashemen, the Symbul's land. (originally Ed became
an elf and you freed the Dwarven mine)

1360 Tuigen horde defeated by the crusade led by Azoun IV the
king of Cormyr who personally slays the Khanan. (Originally you
fought Zhanithar's guild, and fought a red dragon)

1361 First Banedeath, Cyric orders his followers to purge the
leftover Banite's. Explores from Amn discover Maztica.

1363 Capitol city of chult reappears.

1364-5 Cyric Goes mad from plot to make Midnight insane.
Kelemvor takes over as Lord of the Dead.

1367 Tethry's reclaimation war begins

1368 The second Banedeath begins. Zhentil keep is destroyed. Xvim escapes and take back part of Bane's Portfolio from Cyric.
Hellgate keep is destroyed.

1369 Reclamation War of Tethyr over, new King and Queen named.
Randel Morn reclaims thorne of Daggerdale. Fzoul becomes leader
Cult of Xvim and converts many Banites to worshipXvim.

1370 Undersea war over and sailing trade increases to new hieghts.
Fzoul creates the Scepter of the Tyrant's Eye and kills Manshoon Lord of the Zhentarium, several Manshoon clones awake at same
time trying to reclaim power. Three survive but Fzoul retains control
of Zhentarium. Manshoon's followers ousted from the positions, if
they lived.

1371 The harpers divide into factions because of the departutre of
Khelben. Only greater conflicts keep the Harpes from fighting each
other. A red dragon leads a army of orckind ravaging Cormyr. King
Azoun IV and the red dragon slay each other in battle and the
infant Azoun V is heir to the throne. Vanderghast steps down as
Cormyr's Wizard.
The Silver Marches is declare a country.

1372 Year of Wild Magic:By now, just before summer begins; the
City of Shade appears on the edge of Anuarch desert. Bane returns
as God of tyranny and strife. Tilverton has been obliterated. Khelban The Blackstaff resigns as a Lord of Waterdeep.

Oops, Forgot.
The Elves have stopped
their retreat to Evermeet
and are now looking to
establish or resettle old
homes.
And, Myth Drannor's Mythal
was broken, Drow and others
have started to settle in the
area.

OK,

Keta is in Waterdeep at this time having just completed an
aggreement with Kitten and his family to ship some supplies
to his Temple/School in Everlund. He (and two attendants)
are staying at the Pampered Traveler Inn (run by Drogo's
Father and Mother).

Keta will accept the invite and does have appropriate garb
with him.

Drogo remains in Everlund running his Inn.

D' will of course attend. He will just mingle and watch how the night progresses. He will comply with all the rules.

The rest of what he does is in my other reply.

You all arrive in the following order: Erg, Ed, D’, Pascal, Teak, Lady Haven and Vladamir arrive together.

While each of you waits for the others to arrive, the staff escorts you to the music room where an elven quartet is playing some hauntingly beautiful ballads that float around you like the sweet scents of the forest that waft about the room. The staff inquire about your beverage choice, which is promptly brought for you or the best alterative that is in stock. D’ seems to be drinking heavily and wishes there were women, other than your party, here. Your Paladin escorts keep up a light but good natured conversation with you all and they reassure you that they, and your weapons that they are carrying, will be waiting for you in this room at the end of your dinner.

A short time after the last of you arrives (that is enough time for the last of you to be served and start to relax, but not enough time for any to become antsy) a steward summons you all out into the fabulous garden where you will be dinning this evening. You are all lead to a round banquet table with an amazing reflective surface that has floating glow globes of blue, yellow and green drifting serenely around it. Beautiful live flowering plants are arranged unobtrusively on it and the place settings have ornate name cards for each of you, with Ed and D’ setting at the right and left of the two living tree’s that must be the host chairs!

But, your hosts are not yet there.

Instead, stepping around a bush just behind the host chairs walks Lord Piergeiron the Paladinson, the only Open Lord of Waterdeep’s ruling Oligarchy.

I am assuming that you all have the good manners to bow.

“Well Met, Company of the Northwind. I am glad you were able to be here on such a short notice.â€

You are setting at their left hand side
in a place of honor, and during the dinner
they are engaging with the entire party
in light banter. So, if they have a problem
because of your Drowness, it is unnoticable.
