It's another good weekend for open-wheel racing. There's an Indy race on right now and an F1 race this weekend. However, Speed TV's coverage isn't until next Friday at 9:00. I'll wait until next week to watch it. Do you guysa want to do a b5/F1 night next Friday?

Oooo... I just noticed that next Saturday is the 24 hour of Le Mans!

I won't be around next Friday, sorry. Taking the kids up to the Canyon.

It's Le Mans Time!

New postby Bud » Sat Jun 17, 2006 9:53 am

It's time for...
Image

It's on RIGHT NOW!!!

History is made every year at Le Mans, but this year there's something really interesting. The Audi team has dominated the top class at Le Mans for many years. This year they're making history by runing diesel powered P1 car and they're starting 1st and 2nd.

In GT1, the Corvettes have dominated the last couple years, but the Aston Martins are startign in positions 1 & 2 in class, so they're fast. The question is are they reliable enough to beat the 'Vettes for 24 hours?

This is THE world's top sports-car race. I know you guys are all busy this weekend, but I'll have it on TiVo if you want to get together and watch some of it.

Thsoe Astons are SWEET cars. Don't get me wrong, rooting for the vettes, but they sure are nice.

You want me to grab your tickets to the races when i buy mine?

Mr. Bud! Thanks for hosting last night. Really enjoyed the race. Those diesel Audi's were amazing. So was #64 Vette!

But what is with their breakdowns at LeMans? They just don't seem to have the endurance of the 'Vette...yet. Or that sweet, throaty roar as it revs onto the straightaway. 8)

Any time! Thanks for coming over to watch it with me. Racing's more fun to watch with friends.

I REALLY love the looks of the Astons. Best coupe ever, IMO. And it's kinda' cool that they sound like an F1 car. However, the 'Vettes are the best sounding race car ever (not to mention how fast they are).

I was really worried when I saw your post because I hadn't seen the end of the race yet and the 009 Aston was leading the 64 'Vette at the time.

Awesome race between those two guys!

You're not buying any tickets, dumbass! It's your birthday.

I'm watching the F1 Canadian Gran Prix right this moment and next week is the American Gran Prix in Indianapolis!

Anybody want to get together to watch it?

{BTW: I moved a couple of "discussion" posts from the Racing 101 thread to this one.}

Gran Am is at Mid Ohio this weekend too. I'm gonna' have a TiVo full of good racing.

BTW: I'm letting TiVo reclaim the Le Mans space since it's eating up 20 hours of it.

OMG! I saw the most spectacular road-racing crash I've ever seen on today's Grand Am race. Fortunately, the drive was OK. This BMW launched on a burm and went nose-over-tail 8 times.

Holy shit!
8 times!
Glad I wasn't the one needing the
Diaper for that.
