So, went to the strip last night and had a bit of fun. The magazines say this thing will do the quarter in 13.6 stock and do 0-60 in 5.1 sec and I managed to get 13.7@104 last night so they are close. This car is serious fun. Not as fast as a vetter obiously, but seriously fun.

Nice ET, dude. Not bad for about 4500 lbs of car, fluids, and driver.

Not bad if they actually make it.

I think you mean for those who want reliablity in their sports car, but can't afford a Porsche.

I think I know what Bill's next car will be. :)

Sure they can. It's the oldest trick in the book. Take a small-to-midsized car and drop in the biggest engine you can get. It's how the American muscle car era began.

The first such model will be a Lexus IS sedan equipped with a 425-hp, 5.0-liter V-8. The car will be called the IS-F and will debut at the Detroit auto show in January, the auto industry trade publication said, citing Lexus dealers.

Only 425-hp?

The car, powered by a 400-horsepower, five-liter V-8, is based on the company's IS sedan's underpinnings. It was designed outside the normal methodic Lexus process by a group of "rogue engineers," said Bob Carter, Lexus group vice president and general manager.

"This is the fire-breather our guys very carefully inserted into the IS platform," Carter said.

The car goes from zero to sixty in less than 4.9 seconds and has large four-wheel disc brakes that Lexus is so proud of that it placed its logo on the calipers.

It also has an eight-speed automatic/manual transmission.

[my comments: WHAT? Only 400hp? What happened to the 425 they were reporting earlier?]

I hear Don Adams saying:

"Would you believe 350 Hp?
No?
Would believe 2 Japanese boys whipping
a squirrel on steriods?"
