Mr. Geek Universe Competition

New postby LyleAustin » Sat Sep 11, 2004 5:24 pm

I'm creating this thread so that we can determine which of us is the biggest geek.

Gentlemen, start your slipsticks!

(You did learn how to use a slide rule, didn't you?)

Slide rulers are for engineering geeks, of which you might want to be dealing with my little bro (now in the Masters program at NIU). I was a Mass Comm major (which involved video production and heavy drinking after the newscast). I do however still have the film splicing kit I used to edit the Mass Media films in high school.

:P OK, I qualify for that one. :P

I did, at one point, know how to use a slide rule.

I only remember now that it was based on logarithms.

Please set some rules here, like what type of Geek are we judging for? Is multiple geeking allowed? The most well rounded Geek, The most verital geek, or is this specific geeking.

Please site all references.
All anwsers must be in the form of ,,,, no never mind that one.

All cash and prized will be voided of the winner, we all know geeks cannot be trusted with money. Not when there are so many plastic phasers out there with no home.

Mark's correct.
Bud, it's your board so you're on the judging panel.
Mark should also be on the panel, he did correctly identify the need for more definition in this contest.
Bill, would make another good panel member.

If you keep the panel to 3 ties would be less likely.

Judges, start your contest rules.

No, no, no. The owner of the stage doesn't sit on the Miss America panel does he? I'm an innocent bystander in this contest. I hereby formally recuse myself from the panel and surrender my seat to Jeff. You're the tie breaker.

Thank you for the appointment Jeff I don't feel worthy, I also think you would be a good Judge if Bud bows out. Bill is also very qualified for the duties.

Jeff is the sole judge.

I have ventured far far too deep into coolness to be a fair judge of geekness. 8)

I recuse myself also.

I think we are at cross purposes regarding the title itself. As a lifelong historian of genre entrertainment, I have avoided the "geek"ier trappings of such a following, as I believe we all have. Even the idea of Mark getting a Delta tattoo being "geek"-y, or Bud and Bill losing most of our senior year to D&D for that matter are balanced by well-rounded personalities. (kudos esp to Mark as my esteemed Mass Media collaborator and a person willing to take a frozen meat pattie in the crotch for the sake of a joke). I myself do admit to my obsessiveness in amassing a store of information concerning my interests, but draw the line at anything that might get me into a documentary such as Trekkies (and I don't count the scarf and hat I had in 9th grade, ok?).

Now see here,
Just because I chicken out of being a judge, does not mean that everyone else gets to chicken out also.

Too far into the depths of coolness?!?

Yes, you three all drink Hard Liquor & Smoke Cigars.
Yes, you all three know 1 or both of the contestants.
And, yes, none of you would sleep with the contestants, so your votes would be unbiased.

But, coolness?

I wash my hands of this.

He's trying to qualify for Dink-ness again.

And YOU'RE the one who started it (the judging idea)! LOL

I qualify partially for cool. Only partially. At least in my own mind. ROFL

I'm proud of The G man for not qualifying for a Trekkies doc.

Gentelmen, sounds like Greg is not taking the challenge!

LOL! So we have no judge. We have but one contestant...who hasn't posted on this thread since creating it.

Do I smell conspiracy here?

Oh, no, maybe it was that broccoli I ate last night. <waves hand in front of nose>

Whew! Hey, Bubba! Have a whiff of THIS! <waves it in the direction of Florida>
