BOOKS
BOOKS
I stole most of this text from another thread I posted on, then realized most of us read by choice and maybe we'd like to share some of the books we've read.
Just started, "The God Delusion"
and had to move it from the bathroom to the desk. Bill was right needed to have the dictionary on hand.
"Bathroom"??, Well yes, I do read in the bathroom, besides no one interupting you (except the uncannily timed phone calls from certain friends who shall remained unnamed) it is peaceful and if someone forgets to restock the bath tissue quite useful to have back up material on hand, as it were. Besides most of what I read is soft, absorbent and free of splinters.
Anyway, I started another Richard Dawkins book. (The Ancestors Tale was WAY TOO LONG, but then again going back to primordial soup is a long time ago)
Anybody else bother to read a good book recently?

It's a great day to be with my wife,
my friends and alive on my planet!

Well, just yesterday I was reading the "Timers" chapter of the 800pg PIC32MX Family Reference Manual. Does that count?
The theory of evolution by cumulative natural selection is the only theory we know of that is in principle capable of explaining the existence of organized complexity.

Not, I think, lite reading.
Good luck with that Bud.
Bill,
A while ago I asked you about a book you had read about the elements and unfortunately, I lost the title and authors name.
Would you be so kind as to look it up for me?

"A Guide to the Elements"
By Stwertka, Albert
Published 2002
Available at the Phoenix Public Library
Some info for Jeff and anybody else reading the Lois McMaster Bujold series of books about Miles Vorkosigan. Here's the order in which the books should be read. It's (roughly, think) cronological starting just before the birth of Miles.
Cordelia's Honor*
Young Miles*
Cetaganda
Miles Errant*
Memory
* These books are compilations of more that one novel.

Finishing up the Frog's novel (Jules Verne) 20,000 leagues under the sea, then I'm looking forward to starting this series.
BTW, in regards to Jules book, I never wanted to know that much about fish.
Seriously.
Never.
As in Ever.
You should put it on your "time in jail" reading list.

Yeah, Greenwood is a far better author than honest critic. The action picks up in "Downshadow" but it was too floral or soap opera-y for my good fantasy.
I just finished "The Atheist's Way' by Eric Maisel, PhD. Glad to finally find an atheism book that doesn't focus on relentlessly bashing religion. I'm tired of it. This one, instead, focuses on making meaning in life, that YOU decide what it is and how to make it happen. Not anything supernatural or religious.

Okay, Here's the set up:
You are an Assassin, trained in the eastern style of Shoalin Priest
with lots of weapon exposure.
You are currently in a deserted 1200's style european peasants village with wooden houses and your prey, a fantasic archer has run into one of these houses chased by your female apprentice assassin.
He has backed himself into the back corner of the house and has a drawn arrow pointed at your apprentice who will not be able to get away from his killing shot.
You are on the outside of the building right behind him with only the wooden wall, angled (remember he is backed into the corner), between you and him.
What do you do?
Of course, you shove the BLUNT end your Nunchuku through the angled wooden wall, the archers leather armour and his spleen.
Yep, a good tale by RA Salvatore.
So, This qualifies as the get the hardcover while in the golag, so that it will burn longer for more warmth.
