Hello World! Welcome to my domain.
This site is my personal presence on the Internet. It contains my discussion board, where friends, family, and associates may communicate with me and each other as well as various bits of other things I've decided to share with the world. I've upgraded the discussion board to phpbb version 2.0.21 software and everything seems to be working well. This allows me to require new users to enter a visually obfuscated code when registering, making it difficult for automated web "bots" to sign up on my account. This was hapening more and more frequently, spamming my board with advertising and links that I didn't want. Hopefully, this will improve the situation.

The new message board is up and running and it seems to be a success. As a consequence, I'm finally starting to put a few engineering notes (as I discover I need them) on the site in the message board. It is a much ;more convenient way to to it.

Until now, this site has been hosted on the personal-web-page space provided by my ISP (Internet Service Provider). Unfortunately, this meant that I could have static web pages and very little else. I have now moved it to a full service host that will provide expanded features (like dynamic content) and give me a little more space.
That's the good news. The bad news is that things might get a little flaky during the transition. So, if the site behaves strangely, I apologize. Try back in a couple of days. If the strange behavior continues, please send an E-mail to the Web Master address (below).
Also, check back every week or two. You may find something new.

This site started out with a few pictures of my car and my sport-driving activities. Although I still continue to add such content, it has primarily turned into a way for me to share pictures of my sabbatical. I've also added a discussion board so people can introduce themselves and discuss things with me and my friends. What I haven't done, is place any engineering notes here like I'd intended to or use this site to experiment much with web programming. Oh well, those things will come in time. However, for now, please enjoy the sabbatical pics and other content I've placed here and stop by the discussion board and say hello.

(This was my original welcome message, years ago when I started this site.)
At present, I am pretty new at the web-development game and this site is really just a hobby and a way to practice some Internet programming. I will use it primarily to experiment with HTML, Java, CGI, and maybe some computer graphics in my spare time. However, that spare time is very limited and shared with my family, friends, and enthusiasm for driving my Subaru Impreza (the Red-Imp) in SCCA competitions. So, it may be slow going.
I am a software engineer by profession, but I mostly work on device drivers, boot code, and low-level "stuff". This site gives me a chance to play with the type of Internet programming with which most people are more familiar.
I will use the BudCaldwell.com domain to organize my Internet activities (which may eventually include other more public domains) and will link to those sites from here. I will also place various personal items and reference materials here so that they are easy for me to access from anywhere and so that people who need to can refer them. Portions of this site, especially technical and personal items, may be kept under password control (as soon as I figure out how to do that).
In the mean time, please enjoy what little I've placed here. Feel free to send me an E-mail at the address, below.
